ondition
This Mercedes-Benz 230 SL presents in good overall condition following partial restoration work. The exterior has been repainted in classic white and retains the elegant appearance of the W113 design, complemented by chrome details and body-colored wheel accents.
The paintwork is in good used condition, with only minor imperfections including small paint cracks in the front area and a mark near the soft-top opening. The body remains unmodified, preserving the original proportions and character of the Pagoda.
The interior is beautifully presented with black leather seats, a white dashboard, matching steering wheel, and period-correct details. The soft top operates correctly, and the vehicle also includes its original-style removable hardtop.
The chassis remains solid, with only minor surface rust visible underneath. Overall, this Pagoda offers a strong combination of usability, elegance, and classic Mercedes character.
Story
The Mercedes-Benz W113 SL, famously known as the "Pagoda", was introduced in 1963 as the successor to the legendary 190 SL and 300 SL Roadster. Its nickname comes from the distinctive inward-curved removable hardtop, which not only created a unique appearance but also improved structural rigidity.
Designed under Mercedes-Benz’s philosophy of combining sportiness with comfort, the W113 introduced advanced safety features including a reinforced passenger cell and crumple zones derived from the W111 sedan. It became a favorite among enthusiasts, celebrities, and collectors thanks to its elegant styling, exceptional build quality, and effortless touring ability.
The 230 SL was the first model of the W113 series and established the foundation for the later 250 SL and 280 SL versions. Today, the Pagoda is considered one of the most desirable classic Mercedes-Benz roadsters.
